Jaco Beach, Playa Hermosa or Los Sueños Resort: which one fits your trip?

The three areas are close together, but they feel quite different day to day. Here's how to pick.

Jaco Beach: walk to everything

Jaco is the town. Restaurants, bars, the Cocal casino, surf schools and the beach are on foot or quick ride from most of our villas here. The largest group houses in the portfolio are in Jaco too, several of them a block or two from the sand.

Choose Jaco if you want nightlife, a walkable base, or you're bringing 10 or more people and need the bedroom count. It is the busiest of the three, and that is the point.

Playa Hermosa: surf and quiet, ten minutes south

Playa Hermosa is a long, mostly undeveloped beach with heavier waves than Jaco. It draws surfers and people who want to hear the ocean at night instead of the bars. There are a handful of restaurants along the road and no real town center.

Choose Hermosa for a lower-key stay with Jaco close enough for dinner or a night out. Plan on driving or a short taxi rather than walking.

Los Sueños Resort: gated, golf and the marina

Los Sueños is a gated resort community about ten minutes north of Jaco, built around the Marriott, the La Iguana golf course and the marina where most of the region's sportfishing charters depart. Homes here are upscale and quieter, with security at the gate and resort amenities included.

Choose Los Sueños for families, couples, a golf trip or a fishing week. You'll drive into Jaco for nightlife rather than walk.
